Dreamweaver Skills Test (of sorts)
Subscribe to the Course RSS Feed!
Due Tuesday, 3/18 @ 11AM
This is an open notes, open software, open course materials test to ensure that everyone is using the Screencasts to move their understanding of the web building software interface to where we need to be. You might think of it as a Skills Test of sorts. Most of us are almost done demonstrating the skills in this test, but I need everyone ready to go.
Here is the Test.
- Define Your Site in Dreamweaver – Demonstrate this skill by successfully uploading files to your web account on the York server. (See the Screencast on Defining Your Site in Dreamweaver)
- Make a new page based on a Dreamweaver Template (.dwt files). – Demonstrate this skill by building your 4 pages and uploading them to the server (See screencasts on Getting a Template from the Server and Creating a New Page Based on a Template)
- Make Changes to Your Template (See screencasts 1
and 2 on Modifying
the Template)
- how this skill by changing the “branding” area of your template so that it says your name.
- Show this skill by building links in your template by modifying the “mainnav” area so that all the webpages are linked together.
- Show this skill by customizing the “siteinfo” area of the site; it should NOT say Cripps’ name or have his contact info in it!
- Make an External Link and an Email Link in your website (See the Screencast
on Internal Links, External Links, and Email Links)
- Show this skill by adding your email link in the “siteinfo” area of the template.
- Show this skill by creating a link to YOUR BLOG and adding it to your website (in the “mainnav” area of the template or on a specific page).
- Modify your website's “presentation” or look by modifying the CSS. (See the assorted Screencasts on Modifying the CSS) - Demonstrate this by customizing the colors (and more) – we’ll pick some of this up on Thursday, March 20!
How do I show I’m done?
Send cripps@york.cuny.edu a link
to your web address to complete the test. I’ll check your work.
You’ll notice that this “test” is very closely connected
with the skills needed to do the Personal
Website Project, a major portion of your final grade. We have all term
to complete that project, but if we don’t get caught up now our work
will suffer all term.
Don't like the look? Restyle!
